Alabama took the field at 8:30pm last night for the BCS National Championship game, Notre Dame apparently did not get that memo.
One of the most highly anticipated National Title games in history. The buzz in the media was tremendous, the stadium was rockin', everyone was ready to go! And then 3 minutes into the game you just had a feeling this one wasn't gonna be pretty.
Eddie Lacy capped off a 6 play drive to start the game with a 20 yard touchdown run. Tires deflated. Not to say that being down 7-0 is an insurmountable deficit, but for a team in Notre Dame that is predicated on defense, to give up a score that quick, that easy, you just knew it was going to be a loooong night.
Sure, there were a couple terrible calls early on that went Bama's way, but in the end, it wouldn't have made a bit of difference. Bama was just better. They were bigger, faster, stronger, and better prepared. Bama imposed their will on the Irish, who couldn't complete two positive plays back-to-back.
And to throw salt on the wound...did you see how hot AJ McCarron's girlfriend was?!
In a game that left a lot of us scratching our head, yet at the same time provided a bit of clarity in reference to the landscape of college football, what was your big take away from the game?
