2012 was an interesting one. We elected a new President, saw too much tragedy, and somehow avoided the end of the world...
But what about here locally? Orlando and the great cities around it saw some compelling events take place this year as well.
The Orlando Magic dominated the headlines in 2011 and that spilled right over to 2012. The Dwightmare reached its pinnacle and then came crashing down when it became official, Dwight, Orlando's son was leaving town for brighter lights. Amidst the carnage was long time head coach Stan Van Gundy. His reign on the sidelines ended with a phone call while he was on his way home from work. And so it was in 2012, the end of an era.
Drive just a couple hours North and I think you will still see the look of shock and or awe on the faces of Gator fans. The season Will Muschamp's boys put together was nothing short of incredible. Just one loss (down to the wire with Georgia) plus a win, a dominant win rather, over Florida State.
UCF's move to the Big East was made official, of course the Big East has since crumbled like your mothers homemade coffee cake. However, still a huge story here in town!
