Triple threat match!
Three great holidays, with three great sporting days attached to them. But which is best? I think most people off initial thought would tell you Thanksgiving day NFL, but lets not scoff at our other options.
David Stern and the NBA have done a TERRIFIC job making Christmas Day synonymous with basketball. The match-ups are always great, the biggest stars in the league are showcased each year, and the games themselves are usually pretty good too. Furthermore Christmas Day basketball has to be in the conversation because of the aspect of escapism. Face it, every holiday comes with its own level of obligation, and really none more than Christmas. Maybe your running around going from house to house or you have to sit there while 3 loud obnoxious kids open their presents. What the NBA has done is given guys a way to tune it all out and focus on LeBron James dunking Serge Ibaka, or whatever the case may be.
Of course, we can't forget New Year's Day college football. The single biggest hangover day in America. A day that should be filled with moans, groans, greasy food, and Gatorade has been saved by the best day in the college bowl season.
So which is it? Who takes the crown as the best holiday/sports combo pack day?
