Maybe it was the right decision, maybe it wasn't. Either way, to get rid of a coach (as the Lakers did) after 5 games into the season is ludicrous.

This lunacy prompted us to think of other coaching fires that happened prematurely (Bill Belichick, Tom Coughlin, Phil Fulmer, Stan Van Gundy, Marty Schottenheimer, etc).

With the must win attitude now in sports you see it all the time, a coach is barely given a chance to succeed before the rug is yanked out from under his feet.

Certainly the Lakers organization has high standards, but that doesn't excuse them from making a decision this abrupt and down right moronic. It's one thing if you're going to fire your head coach to bring in a guy who's got more rings than appendages  (Phil Jackson) but to bring in a guy in Mike D'Antoni who was fired by the Suns, then landed with the Knicks, only to get fired by them mid season confuses the media as much as it does the fans in LA.

Where does the firing of Mike Brown rank among the all time dumbest firings of all time? VOTE ON THE DAILY POLL!

Don't forget, Jeff Van Gundy joins us in the 8 O'Clock hour to give us his take on the drama in Hollywood. Listen live @ IHeartRadio.com
