The possibility of college football is still in question, but if a season is going to play out, Notre Dame is going to need a conference to dance with. Many conferences are going to a conference only model and according to Brett McMurphy, Notre Dame is eyeing the ACC.
Is it good to fill a spot? Yes. Is it good to fill that spot with a good team? Also yes. But is it good to have a one time team win your conference championship? It definitely doesn't look great.
If someone from the outside comes in and dominates you, your conference looks even weaker than it already does.
