We got news over the weekend that THURSDAY appears to be the date where we will finally get some finality to this NBA returns to play predicament. Many options on the table…many ideas and desires discussed…
I would like to file this story under the column of, this can’t be real.
As the NBA considers its options on resuming the 2019-20 season, the league office is reportedly looking at ways to include Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
According to Windhorst, several executives around the league believe the NBA wants to set up a plan to ensure Williamson is involved in the postseason. To facilitate the Pelicans making the postseason, the NBA would need to expand the format to include 20 or 24 teams, an option that is on the table, since they are on the outside of the playoff picture.
Believe me…I agree. I want to see Zion in the playoffs. But doesn’t the NBA want to shed this image that it favors its stars so heavily, they don’t even play by the same rules.
Also, it wouldn't be that hard to get Zion and the Pels in, all they need to do is allow 2 more teams into the postseason and that accomplishes that motive.
