It was one of the splashiest signings this offseason when the Tampa Bay Bucs signed Tom Brady away from the New England Patriots. Adding Brady with the receiving core of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin along with Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard at tight end makes the offense very lethal.
A report out there says that Tom Brady would again like to play with troubled wide receiver Antonio Brown.
From PFT: NFL Media reports that teams that spoke with Brady in recent days are under the impression that he wants Brown as part of his offense this year. Brady and Brown played one game together with the Patriots last season before Brown was released in the wake of a lawsuit alleging his sexual abuse was filed.
Brady has made public signs of support for Brown, but it remains to be seen if things will fall into place for a reunion. Brown's status with the NFL is unclear as he remains under league investigation. It also may be a tough sell for Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians.
In January of 2019, Arians said that Brown has "acted liked a diva" and that "he has to make better decisions off the field".
Given the other holes on the Bucs offense and the fact that they ALREADY have a pair of very capable receivers and good (yet under-performing) tight ends on the roster, bringing in Brown doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Brown is unbelievably talented but too much of a risk in the locker room and off the field.
I understand Brady wanting to bring Brown back should he have stayed in New England, they don't have the receivers that come close to the talent of Brown. In Tampa, they have two of them.
Unless adding Antonio Brown was the only way to get Tom Brady to Tampa, they would be better off passing on him and addressing needs elsewhere.
