Stan Van Gundy remembers Kobe Bryant's incredible 2009 NBA Finals

NBA Finals Game 5: Los Angeles Lakers v Orlando Magic

The year is 2009. It's the first NBA finals appearance for the Orlando Magic since 1995. Dwight Howard was crowned as one of, if not the, best basketball player in the world and the team was coached by one of the best in Stan Van Gundy.

But they ran into Kobe.

This was also the first year Kobe was in the finals Shaq-less. It was his time to show that it was his Lakers, not Shaq's. He did exactly that and then some, scoring 40 points in Game 1 and never looking back after that. Kobe would win the Finals MVP.

Stan Van Gundy remembers that run like it was yesterday and on Open Mike he opened up about how even with good defense, Kobe was just too much for the Magic that season.
